Although there are not many details, the debut will be made on April 17.
On April 17, the fourth-generation 2020 Toyota Highlander debuts at the New York Auto Show. A teaser video featuring Michael Murphy, an augmented reality artist, shows the silhouette of the SUV.
Revealed:
Murphy created the teaser using 3d printed images of the 2020 Highlander. Each piece was handpainted to match Toyota’s design rendering. If the right angle is used, layers can be created to create an image of the SUV.
Toyota has not yet provided many details on the new Highlander. The fourth generation of the SUV has a sleek styling throughout, but a slender grille. The vehicle’s rear window line reaches a point, creating a more sleek appearance without compromising its cabin volume. It seems that the angle of the rear glass is a bit less steep.
Toyota News:
The current Highlander can be ordered with either a 2.7-liter four cylinder that produces 185 horsepower (138kilowatts) or a 2.5-liter V6 that produces 295 HP (220kW) and 263 Lb-ft (357Nm). Although we don’t know much about the next generation’s powertrain, it is possible for Toyota to install its new 3.5-liter V6 with 301 hp (252 kW) and 362 lb-ft (362Nm) in the Carry. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine in the sedan would replace the 2.7-liter one with 206 hp (154kW) and 267 lbft (252Nm). A hybrid could also be added to the range, it is possible.
The 2020 Highlander will continue to offer front-wheel driving on the base model, while all-wheel drive is an option for those who are often in slippery conditions.
The 2020 Highlander will be available in the U.S. by the end of this year, following the unveiling.
