The four-cylinder BMW Z4 costs a bit less.

While you won’t buy a Toyota Supra, or any other sports car, it is nice to know that the vehicle gets a solid fuel economy. The A90 is a hotly anticipated model. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has listed the coupe’s MPGs. They are actually very close to the BMW Z4 sister model. However, they are in four-cylinder form.

The new Toyota Supra will return 24 mpg in the City, 31 mpg highway and 26 combined. The Z4 four-cylinder is not much better. It returns only one extra mpg in city, one more on highway and two additional in combined cycle. However, it has 80 hp less and 70 lb-ft less power than the Japanese sports car.

You may recall that Toyota sells a four-cylinder Supra but only in Japan. The company already stated that it will not be bringing the lower model to the United States. A JDM version of the Supra can have as low as 194 horsepower or as high as 255 horsepower, both significantly less than the 335-hp six-cylinder Supra.

Pricing is another factor to consider when choosing between the four-cylinder BMW coupe and the four-cylinder roadster. The sDrive30i starts at $49,700 with the smaller engine, while the Toyota is only $290 less expensive. If you don’t want the droptop experience or the BMW badge, then the Supra is likely to be the better option.
