2020 Toyota Supra reveals aggressive rear in new spy image

Supra is back.

Thanks to spy shots of near-production prototypes, the pieces of the Toyota Supra puzzle (A90), are starting to fit together. Two weeks ago, a gray car was shown with the front design. Now, we can see the rear end of another Supra in a brighter yellow shade.

The back of this car, as it was with the Supra’s fifth-generation face, is reminiscent the FT-1 that was introduced many moons earlier. Although it isn’t exactly the same concept as the one revealed in 2014, you can easily see the similarities between these cars. To better see the similarities in design, here’s a side-by-side comparison.

The 2020 Toyota Supra is aggressively designed with a prominent spoiler lip, two large exhaust tips and an F1-style LED fog light. The sports car’s sleek look is enhanced by the vertical fins of its diffuser. A nod to the 2002 model, the font used to write “Supra” on the rear bumper is also a nod to that model.

The concept’s retractable rear spoiler seems missing or tucked away. However, we wouldn’t be surprised if it was reserved for a hotter Supra derivative, such as the GRMN variant. This car, however, has a regular bumper. The vents were also found in the FT-1’s rear bumper at the bottom right corner of its taillights. It’s not bad, though.

Toyota will finally! After what seemed like an endless series of spy photos and a tiring teaser campaign, Toyota will finally unveil the Supra’s revived version at the Detroit Auto Show next month. Toyota may add a convertible version to its range down the road, but it hasn’t decided yet.
