Although it may be some time before you can see the Supra at your Toyota dealer in your area, tuners are already thinking of ways to spice up this coupe. Prior Design has a widebody package in the works that will give you a more “look-at-me” vibe if the standard model is too bland.
Prior Design is still in development so it’s not yet possible to release any details about the kit. However, these images provide all the information that we need. The Supra’s width will be a bit wider due to the bulky fenders. Up front, there is a vented roof to let the BMW six-cylinder engine breathe better. A large wing at the back of the Supra is more than a showpiece. It actually boosts the Supra’s downforce.
Prior Design’s Suburban may be too heavy to ride on and slammed onto the road. The large front splitter and vents at the top of the front fenders might make it a little uncomfortable. If past generations of the Supra are any indication, there will be many tuning packages available for the A90. It’s only a matter time before another company releases images of a custom version. Next year’s SEMA will likely see an unprecedented number of Supras with custom tuning.
Toyota has confirmed that a GRMN variant will be available for those who want a hotter Supra. Although details are not available right now, it is easy to see that the range-topper will be powered by the turbocharged inline-6 3.0-liter engine. This engine produces 335 hp (494 Nm) and 365 lbft (494Nm) in the regular GR Supra. The same engine produces 382 horsepower and 369 lbft (500Nm) in the BMW Z4.
In the meantime, the standard Supra in Launch Edition guise will be available in the United States.
