There are five options for hybrid powertrains. Three of these hybrids are mild hybrids using new 48-volt technology, and two are PHEVs.
The Volkswagen Golf 8th generation is now available. The company loaded the hatchback with the latest technology. In December, production will begin in Germany. The launch date and pricing for the United States are not yet known. VW intends to bring the new GTI as well as the R to America, but the company is still evaluating whether the Golf should be sold in America.
Although the new Golf is similar to its predecessor, it’s more slippery than ever thanks to a drag coefficient 0.275. From 167.6 inches (4.258 mm), the previous model’s footprint has slightly increased to 168.7 inches (4.284 millimeters). The seventh generation’s width is slightly smaller at 70.43 inches (1.789 mm), compared to 70.8 inches (1.799 mm). The wheelbase is almost identical at 103.8 inches (2.636 mm), rather than 2,637 (currently).
It’s finally here:
The eighth-gen Golf’s interior features a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster as standard and an 8.25 inch infotainment display. An optional 10-inch infotainment display is also available. Samsung compatible smartphones can be used as vehicle keys by setting them up. This feature allows you to unlock the vehicle’s doors by waving your phone close to it. Then, the engine will start by placing the phone in the console.
Five hybrid powertrains are available for the Golf’s launch. Three of the five hybrid powertrains are 48-volt mild-hybrid systems. They produce 109 horsepower (81kilowatts), 129.5 hp (96.6 kW), and 148hp (110kW). Two plug-in hybrids that are powered by 13-kilowatt hour batteries offer 201 horsepower (150 kW), and 241 horsepower (180 kW).
Two tunes are available for a 1.0-liter turbo-three-cylinder gasoline-fueled engine producing 89 hp (66.6 kW), and 109 HP (81 kW), and two versions of the 1.5-liter turbo-four-cylinder with 114 hp (85.5 kW), and 148 horsepower (110 kW). There are two versions of the diesel-powered, 2.0-liter four cylinder engine: 114 horsepower (85 kW), and 148 horsepower (110 kW).
New Golf’s Travel Assist driver assistance tech, which is available to assist with steering, brake and acceleration, can be used on highways up to 131 mph (210 km/h). Car2X communication can be used to exchange information with other vehicles or road infrastructure within a radius of 2,625 feet (800 meters).
After purchasing a Golf, buyers will be able to add features to their vehicle for the first time. Customers can add features to their vehicle through the company’s We Upgrade program. This includes adaptive cruise control, Light Assist controls, navigation, smartphone integration and Wi-Fi hotspot
