2021 Acura TX Teaser Previews Type S Revival and New Turbocharged V6

The new sedan will be available for purchase starting May 28th.

Acura’s plans to be a performance-focused brand take a major step forward with the return of Type S. The 2021 Acura will be digitally launched on May 28th with the Type S model. This is the first time the brand has worn the nameplate for more than 10 years. The brand’s turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 will make its debut on this car.

The details are not available beyond that. A recent leak has given us a glimpse at the new car. However, it didn’t show any details about the Type S. We have a teaser photo of the Type S that we brightened to bring out more details. The rear of the car is shown in this image. It features four quad exhaust tips and a spoiler on the trunk lid. You will see two badges on the car’s rear end: the Type S badge on the left and the SH-AWD badge on the right. This is Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive system, which will be used in the Type S.

2021 Acura TX Teaser Previews Type S Revival and New Turbocharged V6We don’t know much about the turbo 3.0-liter V6’s output or acceleration times. The NSX is the only turbocharged six-cylinder currently in the brand’s stable. It uses a twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6. The 2020 Toyota TLX has a naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6. It produces 290 horsepower (261 Kilowatts) as well as 267 pound-feet (362 Newton-meters). We are hoping for Type S to return, but Honda has never had a huge amount of power. Acura is not known for its overwhelming horsepower.

Acura will hopefully fill in some of the gaps with the official debut of the car in the coming days. Even a vague, dark teaser image can temporarily evoke memories of Acura’s past sports cars.
