China has been Buick’s largest customer since 1998.
Since Buick’s introduction in China in 1998 has been the largest market for American marquees. In fact, 10,000,000 Buick vehicles were sold in 1998, which is a relative success for the SAIC/GM collaboration.
The company will introduce a new Buick GL6 midsize sedan to further expand its product line in the country. Miniva This product is exclusively made for the Chinese market, and has been available since 2018.
The GL6 has been updated for the model year 2021. It will receive a mild-hybrid engine and a variety of new cabin appointments. The mild-hybrid system includes an independent 48V electric motor and 48V battery. A battery management module and a hybrid control device complete the package. These features include energy regeneration, start-stop, electric power assistance, and intelligent charging.
The electric powertrain can be used in conjunction with the 1.3L dual jet turbocharged engine to improve fuel consumption. Buick claims a 7.6 percent increase in fuel economy over the previous model.
The standard 10.25-inch LED cluster display on the 2021 Buick GL6 will be integrated with the center media touchscreen infotainment systems with a flat UI design. This model also includes the Buick eConnect 3.0 connectivity technology system. It will be the first to include mini-programs that provide additional functionality.
Buick’s position in China’s luxury car market will continue to grow with the introduction of the 2021 GL6. The American brand offers a huge range of Chinese models, including sedans and crossovers. It also offers pure electric vehicles as well as hybrid and pure-electric vehicles. This contrasts with Buick’s U.S. lineup, which consists mainly of crossovers.
