This document shows several versions of the compact pickup that will be available for Brazil.
This year’s major launch in South America is the new generation of the Fiat Strada pickup. The vehicle was to be available in April in certain regions of the region. The COVID-19 pandemic has forced the automaker to delay its debut. A new filing has been made with Brazil’s National Institute of Industrial Property, (INPI). This file was discovered by Motor1.com Brazil. It shows the truck’s exterior design.
You can see the truck in several different forms on the registration document. The basic model has a black front bumper with steel wheels. One version has an aluminum wheel and a body-color bumper. There is also what appears to be the top grade, which includes LED headlights, additional trim along the lower portion of the doors, as well as a full roof rack. These images do not show the interior or the single-cab variant. It is currently in development.
The Strada will come with a 1.5-liter engine that produces 87 horsepower (65kW), and a 1.3-liter motor with 108 HP (80kW) that can be hooked up to a 5-speed manual. A CVT will be available that can hook up to either the 1.3-liter turbocharged engine or the 1.0-liter turbocharged.
Coronavirus caused the delay and it’s unclear if the Strada’s launch might take place now. FCA must reopen its plants. Suppliers also need to restart. This model could not be available in showrooms until the second half.
Mexico has Ram variants under the 700 model number of the Strada. It’s possible this model could also be made available in Mexico once the COVID-19 issues are resolved.
You won’t find the Strada 700 or 700 in the United States. Ram dealers would rather see the company bring back a medium-sized truck similar to the Dakota.
