It still looks like a truck, but don’t be alarmed.
The new video of the next-generation Ford F-150 is raising more questions than it answers. It is expected to debut in 2021 as a model year vehicle. What can we expect from this heavily camouflaged prototype? TFLNow has video of the F-150 performing high-altitude testing at the Colorado Rockies. There is also speculation.

We see a SuperCab F-150 in heavy camouflage. The truck’s basic shape is preserved by the F-150. There aren’t many ways to cut a pickup truck so it’s not surprising. We don’t know how much the design will be different from the current model. It is difficult to see specific styling details because of the camouflage. We can still see the additional camouflage on the side mirrors as well as the odd spoiler that was seen on an earlier test mule return. It’s not clear if this is a tool for testing or a way to increase fuel efficiency.
The TFLTruck hosts speculate on the F-150’s front-window kink. Although they claim it is gone, spy photos taken last month suggest that the window kink may return. The two suspect that there is an EcoBoost engine underneath the car’s rear bumper. There is also a hybrid powertrain and an all-electric model.
Ford’s F-150 model is a key part of its portfolio. It is a cash-cow and a leader in sales year after year. Ford is likely to target both the Chevy silverado as well as the Ram 1500 models, both of which were recently updated. Ford is aiming at Ram’s luxurious interiors and its massive 12.0-inch infotainment screen.
