April 12, 2017, was the date Genesis presented the GV80 concept to the New York Auto Show. Two and a quarter years later, the production version is unlikely to be available at your local dealer. Hyundai’s premium division keeps claiming it’s coming but we don’t know when. This design exercise is not just a guess at what the future might look like. It’s heavily inspired by the nameake concept and the many prototypes we saw while racing around the Nurburgring. Although the vehicles we saw at the Green Hell were completely covered, the thin camouflage left little room for imagination. Therefore, we believe that the real deal will look very similar to these.

The new Genesis “Crest” grille can be seen on the 2020 G90, currently displayed at the Los Angeles Auto Show. However, the flanking headlights are slightly different to those on the full-size sedan. It appears that the cluster is divided rather than being split by the daytime running lamps, as was the case with the flagship model. The split theme will continue to the rear, where the GV80’s headlights will reflect the two-tiered headlights.

The G90 was revealed in U.S. specifications this week. It is a major facelift to the previous model. Therefore, we are not surprised that the interior has remained mostly unchanged. We expect a completely new cabin with the GV80, which is an all-development. This interior can be seen in official photos.
