2021 GMC Canyon AT4 gets more off-road performance edition

This is an off-road edition of an already offroad-oriented truck.

GMC’s 2021 Canyon was unveiled back in January. It didn’t take long for the rumor-mill to speculate about an Off Road Performance Edition. The news has been made official in November. It is the 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 Off Road Performance Edition.

The new variant, as its long name suggests, takes the pickup to a higher level in terms of its capabilities. The pickup comes standard with 31-inch Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires and a custom suspension system designed for off-road use. GMC fitted the truck with a four wheel-drive system with an Eaton G80 rear automatic locking differential and an Advanced Hill Descent Control System.
The new Off-Road Performance Edition midsize truck has a suspension leveling kit and the front air dam removed. These modifications have been made in order to increase the angle of approach by over 35 percent to nearly 30 degrees. The Carbon Black AT4 logos and custom 17-inch wheels in glossy black can make it easily distinguishable. This finish has also been used to create the exhaust tip.

GMC also included rocker panel protectors and aluminum mid and front skid plates to protect the vehicle’s most important parts like the oil pan and lower radiator. This Canyon is based on the AT4 and comes with the transfer shield for increased durability.

The Future and the Present:

We don’t know the exact cost of the Off-Road Performance Edition, but GMC has stated that it will start taking orders by the end the year. According to GMC, the Canyon edition was designed for “tackling tough off-road courses or going on weekend adventures.”
