2021 Honda Accord debuts with a new face and lots of tech

All models now have the 8-inch infotainment display, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The refreshed 2021 Honda Accord gives the sedan a new look and significant technology enhancements. The sales begin October 13.
All styling improvements are made to the front. They combine to make the sedan look less cluttered. Designers were able to incorporate the radar unit into the nose with a wider grille. The fog lights are more easily accessible from the lower fascia. The LED headlights are now more powerful and can throw light further when used with the low beams. High beams have a wider and longer spread. Sonic Gray Pearl is available in Sport Special Edition and Touring trims.

The eight-inch infotainment screen is standard on all models. Every trim also gets Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto will be available on the EX-L, Touring and EX-D trims of the Accord Hybrid for 2021.

The front USB ports have been moved to the bottom of the center console, with a minor tweak in the layout. Two USB ports are available for passengers in the back.

While the powertrains are unchanged from their predecessors, there have been some changes in how they drive. The engine management software has been improved for both turbocharged and hybrid engines to provide better throttle response. Hybrid systems now give electric driving a higher priority.

The adaptive cruise control provides smoother braking and the lane-keeping assistance system gives you more natural steering corrections. This improves safety. To help drivers avoid leaving a pet or child in the car, all grades of the 2021 Accord include a rear seat reminder as well as a rear belt reminder. The Touring grade, which is the highest-end model, gets low-speed braking control. This uses sonar to stop the vehicle in parking lots and other conditions.

The EX 1.5T grade has been replaced by the new Accord Sport Special edition. This trim includes leather upholstery, heated front chairs, remote engine start, remote power adjustability, and 12-way power adjustment for the driver’s seat. The exterior features include 19-inch wheels, a trunk spoiler and LED fog lights. The turbocharged 4-cylinder of 1.5-liters produces 192 horsepower (143 Kilowatts) as well as 192 pound-feet (261 Newton-meters) through a CVT.
