2021 Honda Civic Type R will be more expensive

Although it isn’t a significant increase, it’s still very important.

Customers will pay $400 more for the 2021 Honda Civic Type R than their predecessor. Although the hot-hatch is not the only Honda 2021 vehicle to see a price rise, it receives the largest financial upgrade. Cars Direct’s most recent article discusses why and how customers will be affected by the Japanese automaker’s decision.

The latest Civic Type R Touring will start at $38,890, plus the $995 destination fee. It appears that the Limited Edition Models will retain their current MSRP of $44,990.

Honda does not shy away from making mid-year price adjustments. For the past few years, Honda has increased its MSRPs and destination fees but not as much as this. The price increase doesn’t include any upgrades. You still get a turbocharged, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 306 horsepower (228.9 kilowatts), and 295 pound-feet (399.9 Newton meters) of torque.

It would be remiss to not mention that the Type R is still one of the most costly options in its class. This is because it is outsold by vehicles such as the 2021 Volkswagen Golf GTI which will cost you only $29,690. The GTI and other hot-hatch vehicles aren’t quite as powerful but they offer a good deal.

The Subaru WRX STI is the only competitor in terms of performance and price. It costs $38,170, but has slightly more power and all-wheel driving. We’d bet that the price difference will not have a significant impact on sales figures, despite all of the semantics.
