Hyundai unveils updates to the Sonata in 2021.
It’s been just over a year since Hyundai introduced the 2020 Sonata to New York. Sonata’s bold styling is a clear indication that the model has been completely redesigned to challenge the market for midsize sedans. It’s the most beautiful Sonata yet.
Hyundai hopes to enhance that aesthetic appeal by giving the Sonata larger wheels. The Sonata will get 19-inch wheels in both SEL Plus or Limited trims for the model year 2021.
The new rims come with 245/40 R19 Pirelli P Zero all season tires. This is Hyundai’s recommendation for “driving enthusiasts who want to combine performance, responsive handling, durability, and all-season grip, even in light snow.”
The Safe Exit Warning (SEW) is a standard feature that was added to the 2021 model-year. It is available on the Limited, SEL Plus and Limited trims. The Sonata’s blind spot radars are used to warn the driver and passengers about oncoming traffic while parallel parking. If necessary, SEW will issue both visual and audible warnings.
Based on early 2020 Sonata buyers’ feedback, Hyundai quietly added an electronic passenger height adjustment to the Limited trim.
These features add to the already extensive tech toys found in the Sonata. Hyundai calls it “Beautifully Smart” and includes a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, 10.25-inch HD infotainment display with audio-video and navigation as well as standard Apple CarPlay/Android Auto functionality. There are several options, including Qi wireless charging and a head-up display. Hyundai also offers Digital Key, which uses a dedicated smartphone application.
The 2021 Hyundai Sonata will be available for purchase in August. However, the company has yet to disclose any price changes associated with the model year upgrade.
