Infiniti will host an 11/11 livestream to unveil the super-swoopy crossover.

The 2021 Infiniti HTML55 will make its debut via livestream on November 11. Infiniti claims the HTML55 is a “return of the luxury crossover coupe segment that it created nearly two decades ago,” and asserts that the FX was its first.

The QX55 will be using the same underpinnings that the QX50 small cross-over uses, as well as competing with the BMW X4 Coupe and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. We have seen the vehicle, but we are still keeping our secrets. However, the QX55 pays homage to the FX with a handsome arching roofline, and a ducktail spoiler. Its proportions are also very well-arranged, which avoids some of the awkwardness associated with crossover coupes.

Infiniti has not yet revealed details about the QX55’s powertrain, but we can assume it will use the variable-compression turbocharged 2.0 liter inline-4 found in the QX50. It makes 268 horsepower (200kilowatts), and 280 poundfeet (308 newton-meters). A continuously variable transmission, standard front-wheel and all-wheel drive are also possible. Infiniti may make the 2021 QX55 more emotional by offering an all-wheel drive option as standard.

The QX55 is a coupe version the QX50. This raises the question as to whether Infiniti plans to make a line of fastback SUVs. Based on the, a mid-sized QX65 would be logical. This is especially true considering that Infiniti might go front-drive-only to cut costs. If this gossip is true, we would love to see the QX70, which is based on the Q50 sedan, return to the lineup.

The automaker has yet to announce when and if it will present the 2021 QX55 in person. It’s possible that we will get a chance to see the 2020 Los Angeles Auto Show in person. We don’t expect LA to happen with major events such as the Pebble beach Concours d’Elegance or CES 2021 being delayed or cancelled.
