These notable additions are the interior upgrades.
Jaguar has a reputation for delivering model refreshes that are barely noticeable. You’ve seen the EPace spy photos in the past few months and know that the new model will not differ from the old one. We can now see the official 2021 E-Pace.
The obvious. You will need to be able to distinguish between the 2020 and 2021 models from the outside. However, if you are able to identify the differences you can win trivia night at the pub. The new EPace has a bolder, mesh-style grille and a chrome surround. Corner vents at the fascia have been slightly reshaped and also decorated with chrome surrounds. The new headlights feature a double-J-blade LED design. Fender vents get an embossed Jaguar Leaper. It’s very subtle indeed.
The changes will be obvious inside. The new center stack, which includes a 11.4-inch curved glass touchscreen and a revised center stack, will immediately cause your eyes to drop. It is the command-central of Jaguar’s Pivi Pro infotainment systems, which include everything from Google and Microsoft Outlook, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and more. The new steering wheel is both familiar and unique, with a dual-spoke design at its base. It sits on top of a central console that features an updated shift stalk. An optional 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is available. Standard-issue equipment has dials that remain the same.
You won’t notice subtle details like the neat-o Jaguar upholstry tag, sculpted knee contact points for greater comfort, and the ClearSight rear-view mirror tech. This uses a wide angle rear camera to display high-definition images on the frameless rear-view mirror. You won’t be able to see the updated engine mounts and new cabin filtration system. The powertrain is all the same with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine with 246 horsepower or 296 horsepower. It drives all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission.
The price rise is subtle but the refresh is subtle. Jaguar claims that the 2021 E-Pace will be priced at $40,995, $1,045 less than the previous model. The 300 Sport, the most powerful model in Jaguar’s lineup, starts at $49,000.
