Also on the horizon is a digital instrument cluster as well as a larger infotainment display.
In a world where SUVs are the norm, Kia decided to launch a sporty, liftback model. While Stinger sales have been disappointing, the company plans to refresh the Stinger mid-cycle to attract customers who would otherwise purchase something German. According to a new report by South Korean magazine , there will be a lot of changes for the car’s upcoming facelift.
The GT , which is the most powerful model, will use an upgraded twin-turbo V6 engine with a 3.3-liter displacement. The current output of 365 horsepower and 376 pounds-feet (510 Nm) will be increased to 380 horsepower and 390 lb.ft (528 Nm). The company will also implement a variable exhaust system that can be adjusted to change the sound.
The 2021 Stinger will have slightly revised front and rear bumpers, as well as new headlights. The taillights will also be changed a little and linked together by a full-width LED bar, which is becoming more common in recent cars. The interior will feature a digital instrument cluster that replaces the 8-inch analog dials, as well as a touchscreen infotainment system with 10.25 inches.
According to the report, Kia is expected to introduce the 2021 Stinger on its domestic market in July. Soon, the North American and European versions will be available.
These updates are expected to increase sales compared to 2019, when the Stinger’s demand dropped by 17.5 per cent to 13,861 units. The outlook for 2020 is not great. In the United States, the company moved only 2,560 cars during the first three months, a drop of nearly 21 percent. It seems unlikely that the mid-cycle facelift will make a difference, with the coronavirus epidemic taking its toll on car demand.
