The Discovery is trying to catch up with European rivals.
The Land Rover Family, it’s easy for us to forget that there is a place between the uncompromising and stately. Range Rover The definitively cult-status Defender This is their most versatile SUV. The third generation is the one that we can forget about the Series and LR monikers. Land Rover Discovery The famous brand offers an affordable, but still powerful luxury SUV experience. This Land Rover is the only one to advertise seven-seat capability and large cargo space for adventure gear. Urban users can also use it for groceries and shopping bags. The current Disco third-generation isn’t very old in the United States. However, our friends at Auto Express UK We have found some information that Land Rover has decided to offer a hybrid option to its Discovery line-up due to increased competition from the electrified market in Europe.
The gasoline and diesel options are solid in our area, but the diesels are very popular across Europe. The Discovery’s largest gasoline engine is a 2.0-liter twin turbo. It produces about 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet torque. Diesels can get displacements from 2.0-liters to 3.0-liters in either four- or six-cylinder options, respectively. The availability of a hybrid option for Disco has been a problem since then. This technology has been used by the larger Range Rover and Evoque, but it is still unclear if the same technology can be applied to the larger Disco. Spy photos taken by Auto Express UK reveal that they have spotted what appears to be a gasoline-powered camouflaged Discovery with a mild-hybrid system. The usual port for the plug is taped off, and there are no obvious signs of a charging socket.
Although a plug-in hybrid version of the Disco is still a long way off, it looks like one mild-hybrid could make it in time for the Disco’s life-cycle renewal. It will it make it to America? We will have to wait and see.
Notably, the Land Rover Discovery is on the List of the Best SUVs to Tow.
