OTA updates are available, but the entry-level cost is now $4,100.
The Land Rover Discovery Sport has received a very minor visual refresh for 2020. The sporty SUV will not see any visual changes in 2021. However, there are notable tech improvements and a model restructuring in the US that will see the entry-level price rise by $4,100.
The base Discovery Sport has been discontinued for 2021. The Discovery Sport S is the starting point for the Discovery Sport family, with an MSRP price of $41,900. It’s not a small increase, as the 2020 Disco Sport was priced at $37,800. Comparing the 2020 Disco Sport to last year’s Sport S, however, shows a much more modest $400 increase. Land Rover has dropped the R-Dynamic HSC range-topper, making the R-Dynamic SE the new flagship. It costs $46,950 and is $800 less than last year’s SE.
The system is configurable by users. It’s also self-learning with algorithms that can learn user preferences and adjust itself accordingly. Discovery Sport now offers over-the-air updates to apps and vehicle software. The company’s Electrical Vehicle Architecture, which was introduced on the Land Rover Defender and uses no less than 85 ECUs to manage all systems.
More standard-issue items are also available with the addition of more tech. Every model includes Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto. There is also a 3D Surround camera that joins with other standard safety- and assistance systems. An Advanced Cabin Air Filtration system is available as an option. Land Rover claims it can reduce in-cabin particulates to 2.5 microns in Purify mode. The system will show you a comparison of the in-cabin air quality to what is outside on the centre display if it doesn’t work.
