However, there is one caveat.
Living Vehicle has changed the way that recreational vehicles, particularly trailers, are manufactured since 2017. Living Vehicle has opened up many possibilities and luxuries for outdoor living, expanding the boundaries of off-grid adventures. The Living Vehicle was introduced last year with an off-road package which allows you to travel further with the aluminum trailer.
The Hofmann family has added more toys for the Living Vehicle’s 2021 model year. This includes a new on-board power system, powerful enough to charge an electric vehicle.
The 2021 Living Vehicle PRO model, thanks to its partnership with Volta, has a maximum of 3,080 watts solar power and 47,600 watt hours of energy storage. According to Volta this is the largest lithium-ion system in a trailer. It allows EV charging at speeds of up to 44 miles an hour using an optional 240-volt exportable energy.
This breakthrough comes with a caveat: there are very few electric vehicles that can pull the Living Vehicle. This trailer weighs in at 11,500 pounds, and has a GVWR of 16,000 lbs. (Pro model’s GVWR was 18,000 lbs). These numbers suggest that the Tesla Cybertruck might be able pull it, but not the Rivian T1T.
The Tesla Model X currently for sale can only tow 5,000 lbs. So you’d need three or four. Living Vehicle says that the Tesla Model X can only tow up to 5,000 lbs, so you would need… three or four?
