Both models also get the most recent MBUX infotainment systems.
Mercedes-Benz released the cover for its improved E-Class sedan in the wake of the cancelled Geneva Motor Show. This four-door gets the updated it deserves (the first since its 2017 debut). Thanks to a healthy facelift and more safety equipment, as well as additional tech, the E-Class sedan finally got its update. The E Class Coupe, Cabriolet models get the same treatment.
Their updated front fascias are the most noticeable changes in the 2021 E-Class Coupe or Cabriolet models. The updated sedan’s sleek LED headlights are still in place, with a downward-sloping grille. Only the taillights aren’t changing visually; they remain the same slim as last year. While the new styling improves the overall appearance of the E-Class base model, buyers who want something sportier can still opt for the AMG Line. This adds AMG-specific styling to the vehicle and larger wheels (over standard 18-inchers).The visual changes to the E-Class are even more noticeable inside. The Coupe and Cabriolet now have the Mercedes-Benz MBUX infotainment systems standard. This setup includes a 12.3-inch central touchscreen that supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity as well as a 12.3-inch digital cluster.
Mercedes replaces the rotary dial from last year with a touchpad infotainment control controller. It also adds next-generation capacitive touch buttons to the steering wheel and the “Hey Mercedes” voice command system. As an option, this setup includes wireless charging as well as an acclaimed augmented reality navigation system that we borrowed from other models. The new E-Class Coupe & Cabriolet have safety features such as automatic emergency braking, active park assist with 360-degree cameras, blind-spot monitoring, and active parking assistance. You can get a head-up display as well as the Driver Assistance package, which includes adaptive cruise with stop and go, lane-keep assistance, and adaptive cruise with stop-and -go. These options are only available at an additional cost.
Get More Boost
The powertrain is the most significant change in the E-Class 2021 range. The 3.0-liter V6 is dropped from the E450. It now gets the turbocharged 3.0-liter Inline-Six engine with EQ Boost. This engine produces 362 horsepower (269 kilowatts), and 369 pound-feet (369 newton-meters). The AMG E53 has the same engine, but it produces a much more powerful 429 horsepower (320 kW) as well as 384 lbft (520 Nm). The new powertrain is paired with a standard nine speed automatic on all trims. It sends power to either the rear wheels or to all four in 4Matic specification. Mercedes does not say how fast the two can reach 60 mph (96 km/h), but it does mention an electronically limited top speed limit of 130 mph.
