Nissan, you are a great one.
Just a few hours ago, Nissan revealed the Navara facelift to the European market. It also showed the almost identical Frontier for South America and Mexico. Nissan has sneaked in a teaser photo of the Frontier for the US market, where it is a larger truck. A poster can be seen at the 11:50 mark in the official Nissan Mexico presentation video. It sure looks like the 2020 Titan and 2021 Frontier. As a hint, the poster’s top-right corner even has “Next Trucks” written in it. The LED daytime running lights signature, which has two parallel lines at top and bottom that extend across the entire width the headlight seems to match the teaser at the end of May.
It matches the spy shots that we have seen, so we can be confident that we are actually looking at the US-spec 2021 Frontier. It is safe to say that it has been a long wait considering the fact that the truck being sold is one of the oldest cars in North America. It has been in existence for 16 years.
Although most technical details remain a mystery, we know what the truck will be powered by. The 2020 Frontier will be powered by a new 3.8-liter V6. It produces 310 horsepower and 281 pound feet (381 Newton-meters), of torque via a nine speed automatic transmission. We expect major improvements in refinement and comfort with the 2021MY, given the truck’s age.
We were able to see inside the cabin through spy photos we took earlier. Although the prototype dashboard was a good step forward, we are certain that some people will find the large bezel on the infotainment system’s larger touchscreen a detriment. The center stack’s lower section had new HVAC controls. There was another row of buttons for heated front seats, as well as parking sensors and two USB ports.
Expect a debut in the year 2021 or 2021, as Nissan has already confirmed that the new Frontier will be made available for the model year 2021.
