It is significantly lighter and shorter than its predecessor.
This crossover is a completely different . The new generation lost 120 kilograms (265 lbs) in addition to dropping the “X” from their names. This impressive diet was achieved by switching to PSA Group’s Common Modular Platform, (CMP), which is already used on a number of models including the Peugeot 08.
The new generation continues to make dramatic changes. It is 12.5 cm (4.9 inches) shorter that the model it replaces. Yet, the wheelbase has been extended by 2mm (0.08 inches). To make the cabin more spacious, the overhangs at the front and rear were reduced. The width was also increased by 10mm (0.4 inches). The Mokka measures just 4.15m (163.3 inches) in length. This makes it easier to live in a city with narrow streets and is especially helpful when parking.
Take a look back at the old one:
It is smaller than the Mokka X but still has the same cargo volume. Opel claims it can hold 350 liters (12.3 cubic foot). The low-mounted battery pack has made the electric version’s torsional stiffness 30% higher. The zero-emissions electric model has an electric motor that produces 136 horsepower (100 Kilowatts) as well as 260 Newton-meters of torque (192 pound-feet). This allows for an electronically limited top speed of 93 mph (135 km/h).
The Peugeot e-2008’s 50-kWh battery pack has enough juice to provide WLTP-rated range for 200 miles (322 km) when the Mokka model is Normal. You should be able cover longer distances with two charges if you turn on Eco. A 100-kW DC fast charging system can charge your device in 30 minutes if you run out of energy.
The 2021 Opel Mokka has French underpinnings and a completely new exterior. The B-segment crossover sits on 18-inch alloy wheels. It is sharper from the outside, and more technologically advanced on the inside. The standard equipment includes LED taillights and headlights, which are part of the Vizor design language. The stylish crossover is available at an additional cost with new matrix LED headlights that are unheard of in this market.
Opel will offer the Mokka with tech goodies, including a panoramic 180-degree rearview camera and an advanced cruise control with stop/go functionality. The Mokka’s fancier version has a 12-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10-inch touchscreen, both in a layout that was inspired from premium models.
The Mokka will be available in Europe by Opel from the end of summer. Dealers will also have access to the crossover starting in 2021. Russelsheim-based Opel is focusing on the EV version of its Mokka, but it will also offer gasoline and diesel engines.
