2021 Skoda Ovalia Pro Revealed for China with Stretched Wheelbase

It will be sold together with the previous-generation Octavia.

It is possible to adapt the Texas saying, “Everything is bigger in Texas”, to vehicles made in China. Many automakers, whether they are luxury brands or mainstream, make their cars longer to cater to the People’s Republic, where rear legroom matters most. This is true for the Skoda and its Octavia. Although it is the most spacious compact car of its class, the liftback still gets the LWB treatment.

The Octavia Pro is 64 millimeters (or 18.51 in) longer than the global. It also has the most stretch between the axles, as the wheelbase has been increased by 44 mm (1.7in) to 2,730 mm (107.3 in). This means that customers will now have nearly Superb legroom in a car of a lower price and with a better quality.

The design is identical to the international version, except for the longer rear doors. Skoda has updated the front and rear bumpers to match the Octavia RS, giving the Pro variant a more sporty appearance. You can also get a few bright colors and larger wheels, such as 18-inch ones.

The interior is unchanged from the latest-generation Octavia, which includes a 12-inch touchscreen as well as an optional 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Skoda China will offer the Pro version at an additional cost. It also offers the latest driver safety, assistance and systems in the global model.

Under the hood is a turbocharged, 1.4-liter gasoline engine that produces 150 horsepower (110 kilowatts). The front wheels are driven by a seven-speed dual-clutch, automatic transmission. DSG utilizes the VW Group’s shift by wire tech. This means that the gear selector looks smaller and more modern than the old-fashioned chunky one.

The Octavia Pro features a multilink suspension, while its international counterpart has the more advanced setup on the RS and Scout models. Skoda doesn’t cut corners in China, as the European versions are less expensive and have a simpler torsion beam system at the back.

Skoda will continue selling the third-generation model in the most populous country in the world, Octavia Pro’s debut does not mean it is over. Similar tactics will be used in Europe, where the Czech brand will continue to sell the updated Fabia hatchback along with the old wagon up until the late 2022 release of the all-new Fabia combi.
