2021 VW Arteon Wagon Shown Flaunting Its Long Roof
We know that the prototype was disguised by VW to look like a Passat wagon.

Since December 2016, Volkswagen has been discussing the possibility of an Arteon wagon. This was even before the fastback made its global debut. Although the more elegant alternative to the Passat Variant was announced in August 2019, the Wolfsburg peeps only mentioned plans for a shooting brake and not mentioning that it would be based upon the Arteon, It was revealed indirectly as the CC Travel Edition in China about a month ago. Now, we get to see it while being tested in Sweden.

The disguise is meant to imitate the Passat Variant.Arteon it is quite large, so it should be very practical. It might be called a “shooting brake” by VW, but it is a typical wagonWith rear doors and all. Although stickers are placed on the taillights to conceal the design, the test vehicle looks almost unnoticed. The bumper at the front appears to have some camouflage in a similar color to the vehicle’s body. However, it is probably not concealing anything to be proud of the Arteon Shooting brake is similar to the CC Travel Edition. It has a higher ground clearance, and also features plastic cladding at the wheel arches. These modifications make it a premium alternative to the Passat Alltrack, and more expensive than the recently launched Skoda Superb Scout.

Apart from the obvious roof extension, the Arteon has a larger rear spoiler, a wiper and a more practical version. The CC Travel Edition’s roof rails are missing on this prototype. Fake exhaust tips are a common trend.

As the Shooting Brake is likely to carry over the cabin of the liftback, we don’t expect any major changes. According to Hein Schafer (VW’s senior vice-president of product marketing strategy and product marketing), VW promised that the Arteon would get a facelift in the latter part of this year. This will include some “cool enhancements”. The new derivative will be built in Germany at the Emden facility. There is also a possibility that it will be available in the United States to rival the Subaru Outback or the rumored Ford lifted wagon.

The official unveiling of the posh-shooting brake will take place in the latter part of this year either with the Arteon facelift debut or shortly thereafter.
