Mind you, this was done on less-than-ideal roads.
The 2022 Volkswagen GolfR is available since November 2020. It boasts incredible figures, making it the most powerful Golf to date. VW offers a Golf GTI Clubsport, which is a lighter version of the Golf and a little more powerful than the US-bound GTI. Although the Mk8 Golf GTI Clubsport isn’t as powerful as the R, it’s close to the R with 296 horsepower (221 kW) & 295 lbft (400 Nm). Its turbocharged four-cylinder 2.0-liter engine is the source of power. The engine’s power is sent to the front wheels via seven-speed dual clutch gearbox.
The standard Golf GTI produces 242 horsepower (180 kW) or 273 lbft (370 Nm). It’s not bad, but Clubsport’s jump was quite substantial. GTI Clubsport can travel at 62 miles an hour (100 km per hour) and has a electronically limited top speed (155 mph/250 km/h). These numbers can be seen in the acceleration video and top speed run video, which are courtesy Automann TV on YouTube.
The top speed run was completed on the German Autobahn’s unrestricted sections. The Golf GTI Clubsport ran a 62 mph sprint in just 5.7 seconds. Its 62 to 124 mph (200 km/h), run took 11.5 seconds. The speedometer recorded top speed at 156.5 mph (252 km/h), which is slightly higher than the factory rating. Impressive. Although you may argue that there should not be a discrepancy in the speedo and GPS readings, it is important to know that this model was fitted with winter tires and that the temperature was cold on the day. This makes it difficult to perform acceleration and top speed runs.
