It is a significant jump from the base model.
It has been more than a year since Acura removed the covers from its 2022 MDX. This includes the Type S high-performance model. Now the MDX final piece is in place. The Type S 2022 MDX starts at $67745. If you choose to purchase the Advance Package, expect to pay $73,095. All prices include Acura’s $1,045 destination fee.
The base MDX model starts at $48,245, which is $19,500 more than the Type S. This is compared to the MDX’s 290-hp (216 kilowatts) V6. The comparison is not fair, but the Type S comes with Acura’s Super-Handling all-wheel-drive system. The base MDX starts at $50,245, with AWD available for the Type S. However, there is still plenty of choice between trim levels.
The Type S swaps Acura’s turbocharged 3.5-liter V6 engine for Acura’s 3.0-liter V6. However, it also gets the standard-issue air suspension system with adaptive dampers. This makes the Type S a bit more sharp overall. The Type S also features Brembo front brakes and 21-inch wheels. It also has a modified 10-speed automatic transmission. The Type S is equipped with many of the same tech and luxury features as the MDX Advance trim. It starts at $61,995.
Advance is back with the Type S Advance at $73,095 – the range-topping MDX. This is what you will need to have massaging seats, the powerful 1,000-watt 25 speaker stereo system, the surround-view camera, and the heads-up display. For an additional $500, you can add a premium exterior colour. The MDX Type S was initially scheduled to arrive in September. However, Acura has announced that it will be available at dealerships across the US beginning next week.
