2022 Bentley Flying Spur Features More Standard Tech and More Colors

Your Flying Spur will be available in the Cambrian Grey.

The 2022 Bentley Flying Spur features some new features that make this luxurious sedan even more exquisite. The model’s standard equipment has been expanded by the company, too.

Cambrian Grey, a new paint color that is now available on the exterior, expands the standard palette of paint colors to 63. Bentley now offers interiors with open-pore wood veneer trim, in the colors Liquid Amber and Dark Burr Walnut. The interior receives a thin coat of matte lacquer that is 0.1 millimeter thick, instead of the 0.5 millimeters required for the High Gloss finish. This results in open-pore wood that retains its original texture so that occupants can feel it.

The previously optional City Specification is now a standard feature of the 2022 Flying Spur by Bentley. This allows vehicle traffic sign recognition, hands free trunk opening, reverse traffic warning and top-view camera. It also includes welcome lighting and automatic dimming of mirrors.

The onboard air ionizer has been made a standard feature inside. The HVAC system emits negatively charged particles to improve air purity. This creates a static charge around pollutants and makes them stick to nearby surfaces.

Bentley collaborated with ESI Group to create digital mockups of interior design for the Flying Spur in order to increase noise, vibration and harshness (NVH). They were able conduct virtual acoustic testing to determine where tire noise and airborne sounds were entering the vehicle.

Two engine options are still available for the Flying Spur. The twin turbo 6.0-liter W12 produces 626 horsepower (467kW) and 664 poundfeet (900 Newton-meters), while being driven by a dual-clutch, eight-speed automatic transmission. 542 horsepower (404 Kilowatts) and 568 pounds-feet (5770 Newton-meters). To make the sedan feel more agile behind the wheel, the smaller engine allows it to shed 221 pounds (100 kg) and 568 pound-feet (770 Newton-meters) of power.
