BMW must be on the cusp of introducing M4 Convertible, because the prototype had very little camouflage. The swirly cover that covers the rear bumper, lower trunk lid and section of rear fenders doesn’t hide anything we haven’t seen before. It’s Isle of Man Green, which is the launch color of the mechanically related HTML3 Sedan.
The M4 will undergo another major change, aside from the controversial XXL front grille. The range-topping model will have a lighter, more compact fabric roof than the regular 4Series Convertible . This is similar to the regular version introduced in September 2020. Although it’s shown here in black, there is a good possibility that BMW will offer at most one or two other colors on the production model.
Mercedes suggested that there wouldn’t be another C Class Convertible because of dwindling sales, but BMW sees things differently and has made a business case to build a 4 Series with an open roof. It’s also giving it the full fat M treatment. This should make it easier to drive than the predecessor due to its lower center of gravity and lighter roof.
We are certain that more people will be disappointed by the hardtop than not. It arguably looks better and is more insulated. BMW has not yet said whether the M4 Convertible would be able to offer both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The M3 Sedan will have a six-speed manual transmission, while the M4 Coupe will only get the six-speed manual transmission.
According to Bavaria’s PR department, the new M4 Convertible is set to be released “in time for summer,” The M3 Touring will not be available on the market before 2022. However, we expect to see the production version the fast wagon by the end of this year.
The German luxury brand will continue to push its controversial front-end design, despite being subject to criticisms for months. It won’t be adopted in all models. The only exception is the 2 Series Coupe, and its recently discovered M2 Coupe.
