Two prototypes were captured in Europe for testing.
Our spy photographers in Europe have just sent us a set of new spy photos showing the next-generation BMW X1. Two prototypes were seen testing on public roads, one even showing parts of its interior. Let’s first take a look at its exterior.
This German automaker is trying trick us by offering two test cars. It is mixing parts that we have seen before with newer components. For example, one prototype had its production lights at it’s front. This was something we noticed. A few weeks back, I saw it It had a lot of disguise on its front bumper. The other car was a test vehicle with provisional headlights but less camouflage on its bumper. We can probably get a good idea of what to expect by combining the images from both cars.
We are pleased to report that BMW will almost keep the same kidney grille as the old X1. Although it may seem a little larger than the X1, these photos show that it is not nearly as large as the 4 Series. The grille, in combination with the sharper headlights creates a more aggressive front fascia. It is also very well proportioned.
The interior photos of the next-gen X1 reveal that the premium crossover’s cabin shares many components with the new 2 Series Active Tourer . It may not look finished, but the missing plastic covers around its steering wheel and the odd arrangement of the center console in the final production model will be replaced. We like the 3-spoke steering wheel.
