2022 BMW X3 and X4 Get Refreshed Exteriors and Tweaked Interiors

M and M Competition models now have more torque.

The BMW X3 has been refreshed mid-cycle. This German automaker gave both the BMW X3 and X4 lineups a makeover in design and added new features and technologies. The new lineup also includes the M and M models. BMW has provided pricing information for the new models, as well as details about the changes to the styling. However, there aren’t many surprises.

The 2022 model year will see both receive new exterior styling, including thinner headlights and a larger kidney grille. Front bumpers with triangular-shaped vertical intakes are also redesigned. However, the front styling is different. Redesigned bumpers, taillights, and taillights are also available for the X3 & X4 models. The X3 M40i is different from other X3s thanks to a unique BMW M kidney grille and M logo. It also features a unique tailpipe trim. Many of the same styling changes are made to the X4 M40i. The X3 M and the X4 M have smaller kidney grilles, and the headlights are shorter. However, each model receives a more aggressive front bumper that has larger openings for better cooling. Both models get M-specific rear bumpers, as well as other sporty details at the rear.

BMW The interior design of the X3 & X4 took inspiration from the 4 Series. They look very similar to the previous models. There are a few tweaks that give the interior a new look. New layouts have been added to the center console, which is located below the updated instrument panel and the 10.25-inch infotainment screen in the X3. Live Cockpit Professional upgrades that screen to 12.3 inches and the instrument cluster upgrade to 12.3 inches. Standard equipment in the X4 includes larger screens.

Interior specialties for the M models include the power M sport seats with illuminated logos, Merino Leather upholstery, Alcantara kneepads on the center console, and the M multifunction steering wheels. M-branded seat belts are available for completion models.

The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine from BMW will continue to power the X3 sDrive and X3 xDrive30i models through 2022. The engine produces 248 horsepower (184kilowatts) as well as 258 pound-feet (349 Newton meters) of torque. This propels the pair to 60 mph (96 km/h) in just 6 seconds. Both can reach speeds of 130 mph (209 km/h). The X3 M40i, X4 M40i are equipped with a turbocharged 3.0-liter Inline-six with a 48 volt mild-hybrid technology that produces 382 hp (284 kW), and 369 lbft (500 Nm), respectively. The sprint from 60 to 60 takes just 4.4 seconds. The hybrid tech adds an extra 11 horsepower.

The 3.0-liter turbocharged straightsix engine in X3M and X4M produces the same horsepower and torque as the previous models – 473 hp (352 kW), for the standard M models, and 503 hp (553 kW) respectively for the Competition models. The torque is now up 13 and 37 lbft, respectively. The X3 and X4 models now produce 457 lb/ft (619 Nm), while the Competition models produce 479 lb/ft (649Nm). Both models have a 0-60 time of 4.1 to 3.0 seconds for M models and 4.0 to 3.7 seconds M Comp. With the M Driver’s Pack, the top speed is 155 mph (249 km/h), or 177 mph (284 Kph). All models use an eight-speed gearbox.

Prices for the X3 and X4 lineups will vary depending on the trim. However, the starting price of the M models remains the same. The X3 M is priced at $69,900 and the X4M starts at $73,400. All prices include the $995 destination fee. Here are the prices for the rest of X3 and X4 models:
