BMW currently works on a updated version of the HTML5 for international markets. It is expected to arrive in the second half the year. However, there is a new X5 for China. It takes the form a long-wheelbase model and will be sold only in the People’s Republic.
Visually, there isn’t much difference between the X5 Li model and the standard X5. It’s the same luxury SUV BMW sells for years, but it’s now 5.11 inches (130 mm) longer than the model that you can find at American dealerships. The extra length helps to increase the comfort and legroom of rear passengers. The longer rear doors allow for easier access to the second row of seating.
BMW explains that the new X5 Li was designed with local customers in mind. You will find standard equipment such as custom-designed comfort seats, four degrees of extra tilt for the rear seats, and a panoramic sunroof with glass. The M Aerodynamics package comes standard on the outside. There are many wheel options.
A two-axle air suspension is available as an option or as a standard feature, depending on the specification. Bavarian manufacturer claims the self-leveling suspension offers “the perfect balance of sportiness and comfort.”
The X5 Li will come in X5 xDrive30Li or X5 xDrive40Li trims. These are powered by six-cylinder twin turbo gas engines and four-cylinder cylinders. Standard equipment includes an eight-speed automatic gearbox and BMW’s xDrive all wheel drive.
The long-wheelbase X5 model will be manufactured at the BMW Brilliance Automotive Dadong Shenyang plant and sold only in China. The luxury German SUV will be made in Spartanburg, South Carolina, for the United States and other countries.
