2022 Chevy Equinox Gets a $2,000 Price Increase

Buyers will not be affected.

The 2022 Chevy Equinox – the LS model – will start at $26,995 with a $1195 destination fee. Cars direct believes the higher price is due to the American automaker dropping the entry-level L trim.

Keen readers will notice that this model is $2,000 less than the 2021 Equinox L. However, that would only be an indirect comparison. The MSRP for the previous 2021 Equinox LS was $27,595 making it more accessible than the current LS model. All trim levels will receive a price reduction, despite the fact that there is no L variant.

The LT trim is now $700 lower from $28,795 – $28,095 while the Equinox Premier, the top-of-the-line Equinox Premier, is now down $500 from $32,695 – $32,195. This price rise is not a huge deal if you look closely at the numbers.

It is not surprising that semantics can get confusing quickly. To give you an idea, General Motors introduced several base models in 2015 to compete with the rest. Although it was initially successful the price incentives were not available for entry-level models such as the Equinox L. These vehicles were mainly used for advertising purposes as pawns.

The mild increase in price may make buyers less interested in a lower set of wheels. It could also be an incentive for returning customers who are looking to upgrade their vehicle. CarsDirect has a “percentage discount” deal that allows you to potentially purchase an Equinox LLS and receive $3,500 MSRP. You will also spend $1,000 less than for the 2021 L model, which is not eligible for any incentives.
