The arrival this week of the Silverado E-Velo has made Chevy’s US all-electric campaign bolder. The zero-emissions truck will be GM’s first foray into electric vehicles, especially in the dominant truck segment.
The Chevy EV isn’t nearly as powerful as the Silverado full size truck in other regions. The Chevy Menlo Electric gets a Mickey Kung Fu Edition to appeal to the Chinese market. This special edition model is part GM’s partnership with Disney in Asia.
This isn’t the first Menlo EV with a Mickey theme for China. Menlo EV Mickey Magic Edition was the first, followed by Menlo EV Mickey Space Edition.
Menlo EV Mickey Kung Fu Edition’s latest Menlo EV Mickey Kung Fu Edition was inspired by the Mickey Kung Fu saga, where the most beloved animated character in the world practices Kung Fu. Menlo EV receives decals to depict Mickey’s journey. The wheel hub caps also get a self-glowing cover featuring the Mickey icon. The Mickey theme continues inside with trim colors that match the ambient lights on both the doors and dashboard.
Only China is where the Chevy Menlo Electric Vehicle is sold. The EV crossover, or sedan as it was called in press releases, is the first fully-electric vehicle from Golden Bowtie in China. Under New European Driving Cycle conditions, it boasted a range of 255 miles (410 km) The 2022 model year’s latest updates announced a 61.1-kWh high performance ternary lithium battery pack with an upgraded motor system. This will allow for 322 miles (518 km) on one charge.
The updated powertrain is available in the 2022 Menlo Electric EV Mickey Kung Fu Edition, at a cost of 179,900 CNY (around $28,300 at current exchange rates). Chinese buyers will receive an exclusive gift box along with concierge service and other cool perks at Shanghai Disneyland.
