The new C5 is a mashup from several body styles. It will be unique in design.
Peugeot is taking another shot at a midsize sedan, this time with the stunning 508. But sister brand Citroen sees things differently. Although it will soon be competing in this market, you can see that it is far from a four-door sedan like 2017’s C5. The car is more like a combination of a sedan and wagon combined with an SUV. It also features an unusual design that’s typical of the double-chevron.
Automakers are obsessed with making almost all of their cars crossovers and SUVs. The new C5 will ride slightly higher and have plastic body cladding around its wheel arches. The following rendering, although not officially confirmed, is more than a shot in dark. It follows the spy photos we published a few days back.
It’s designed to look like a regular sedan from the front to C-pillar. However, the roofline gently slopes to the rear to meet the liftgate for greater practicality. The Cxperience concept, which was shown at the bottom in 2016, is the basis for the new C5. It’s likely that there won’t be another car like it.
The Volvo S60 Cross Country is perhaps the closest car to the Volvo S60 Cross Country’s spirit, but that high-riding Swedish oddball ended up being a jacked-up sedan. Citroen previously stated that the version for China would look different in order to better suit local tastes.
