Superminis have a double life, as they can also be used in certain markets as a small van for two people.
Although we associate “Ford” or “van” with the Transit line of workhorses and other models, in some European countries, there is a smaller, utilitarian model that falls below the Transit Connect or Tourneo Connect. The Fiesta Van will be around until 2022. It has the same styling as the regular and gets design tweaks.
The van is still three-door and two-seat, but it now has matrix LED headlights with a glare-free, high beam function. This tiny van is available in two trim levels: Trend and Sport. Each has its own exterior styling and unique wheel designs. The Fiesta is not only the only B-segment hatchback on the Old Continent that doesn’t have rear doors but also the only supermini-based van available after the Corsavan was axed a few decades ago.
Customers can choose to have a 15-inch steel wheel or to upgrade to an alloy up to 18 inches. The color palette includes Beautiful Berry and Boundless Blue, with black surrounds for the taillights. The Blue Oval now sits on top of the grille to give it “greater road presence.”
The Fiesta Van is a unique vehicle. You can order a sports suspension to lower the ride height. Ford’s interior features a two-tone, ebony trim and red stitching. The new foam makes the seats more comfortable. The load volume is 0.96 cubic metres (33.9 cubic feet) and there’s plenty of room behind them to hold items up to 1,283 mm (50.5 inches). The van can carry a maximum weight of 531 kg (1,170 lb).
The Fiesta Van will feature a 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine that produces nearly 125 horsepower. The car will come with an E85 fuel-compatible engine, which means that it can run on either 85 percent ethanol or 15 percent gasoline. The order books will open in the fall, and the first deliveries are expected to take place by next week.
