It is the last Heritage Edition 2022 and the last Ford GT of the current generation.
Since 2005, the Blue Oval supercar was introduced in Ford GT Heritage Edition. There have been eight models of this Ford GT Heritage Edition model. The first Ford GT Heritage Edition model was introduced in 2006. It brought the iconic blue-and-orange Gulf livery to the first generation car. All the rest graced the second generation GT. Now we are at number nine. The 2022 Ford GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition is here!
This model pays tribute to the GT40’s racing heritage, as did previous heritage models. Every auto enthusiast is familiar with Ford’s 1966 victory over Ferrari at Le Mans. They crossed the finish line in a 1-2-3 formation and won the race. Bruce McLaren, Ken Miles and the Shelby-American racing team have been the focus of much attention. They were famously paired up to finish side-by-side. Ronnie Bucknum, Holman Moody’s driver of the Mk II GT40, took third place. He wore a gold exterior and flashes red at the front. This is the racing livery that was recreated for the 2022 Ford GT. 5 roundel on doors and hood.
Mike Severson, Ford GT Program Manager, stated that “Of all the Ford GT Heritage Edition liveries I’ve done,” the Holman Moody Heritage Edition is the most memorable. Its signature theme of gold and red is a powerful tribute to 1966 Le Mans finish. This Ford GT, inspired by the Ford GT40’s most famous race car, honors Holman Moody’s ability to out-innovate global rivals and shows their knowledge.
The Holman Moody Heritage Edition features more than just eye-catching colors. It also has exposed carbon fiber at various places. Although the 20-inch wheels are the most prominent, you will also find carbon fiber in the front splitter and engine louvers, the rear diffuser, side sills, side mirrors, and rear diffuser. You’ll find more carbon fiber in the registers, console, door sills and console. You will find standard Ford GT interior with lots of leather and Alcantara. However, a little bit of gold trim is there to remind you of Holman Moody’s connection.
Ford will unveil the 2022 GT Holman Moody Heritage Edition at the 2022 New York Auto Show. It will be joined by the 1966 Ford GT40 Mk II, which is its basis. The production is extremely limited – although a number has not been announced, every second-generation Ford GT heritage run has had 50 or less. Ford GT production will end in December with 1,350 units total.
