All information about the Maverick and Ford’s strategy for selling the compact truck.
Automakers often keep pricing, features and other details of a new vehicle under wraps for several weeks or even months. The Ford Maverick gave us everything we needed, including a Maverick configurator that included equipment and costs. We now have some information about the forthcoming small truck thanks to the Maverick Truck Club product guide.
You can view the guide at the forum. It lists many of the same information we had at the Maverick launch. However, there are some important items to be aware of. It provides a glimpse into Ford’s new offering from a buyer’s perspective. They are, as you would expect, not traditional truck owners. It’s possible that Maverick buyers might be owners of compact SUVs or sedans who have never owned a new vehicle, and may not be interested in a pickup. This product guide indicates that Ford wants to attract buyers by offering a pickup bed in an major manner. That’s why the Maverick is well-equipped for this task. Although its 4.5-foot bed may be small, it is larger than that in the Hyundai Santa Cruz. Ford’s Flexbed branding makes it clear that this truck offers exceptional versatility. Buyers have many options to store their cargo, including tie-downs and power points. There are also slots for dividers. According to the guide, Ford intends to place QR codes on various places on the Maverick so that owners can scan them and find out about different features and capabilities.
Ford makes strong arguments for the Maverick’s availability in standard trim as an hybrid. However, the guide lists EPA ratings of 40 mpg in the city, 33 on the highway and 37 combined for the 2.5 liter hybrid powertrain. It is only available with front-wheel drive or the CVT. The turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four cylinder and the eight-speed auto are required to move up to all-wheel drive. Mileage estimates have not been released for this combination. The forum has many pages of information that you can view. It’s well worth it if your thoughts are about the Maverick. The actual truck will be available for purchase at dealerships this fall.
