The all-electric crossover is a hit in the Old Continent.
Ford announced that the Mustang Mach-E will have a higher towing capacity in Europe. There are also other improvements that include charging and comfort. The update is even better for Mustang Mach-E owners, which is significant considering the success of the all-electric crossover’s sales in the Old Continent. Ford Mustang Mach-E’s approved braked weight has been raised to 1,000 kg (2,205 lbs) for extended-range models with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. This is an increase from the previous 1,653 lb (1,750 kg). Ford stated that customers should have the ability to tow small- or medium-sized fiberglass fishing boats with increased towing capacities.
Not to be confused, the Mustang Mach-E has not been officially rated for US towing as of the writing. Ford has made several updates to the Mustang Mach-E, including an increase in towing capacity. A reduction of 52 minutes has been made in the charging time. This is a 37-minute improvement that will fill between 80 and 90 percent.
This change in charging curve only applies to DC chargers. Wall box chargers with 11 kW will not be affected. Ford stated that the recalibrations of the one-pedal driving feature can improve driver comfort for smoother performance at lower speeds.
Since there is no hardware upgrade required, all of these enhancements can be done over the-the-air. These updates are available to Mustang Mach-E owners. Since the Mustang Mach-E was first introduced in Europe, Ford has been making a lot of money from it. It had already outsold the previous Mondeo midsize sedan by the end of October 2021. Ford sold more than 23,000 units in Europe within its first year. Around 88 percent of those were from customers of other brands.
