The updated sedan is being revealed by the premium South Korean marque. The vehicle will be available in its native market first, and then it will launch in other markets, such as the US in 2021.
South Korea has minor adjustments to the drivetrain, but the engine range does not change. Dynamic AWD System now has a drift mode to allow the tail to hang out. The engine and transmission programming are now even more aggressive with the addition of Sports+. To give the sedan a muscular sound, the V6 is equipped with an active exhaust.
There is a rumor in the US that a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder will replace the 2.0-liter powerplant found in the G70. It produces 290 horsepower (216 Kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (402 Newton-meters). This would result in an increase of 38 horsepower (28 kW) or 50 lbft (67 Nm), of torque.
The most significant design change in the 2022 G70 is at its front, where it gains split headlights similar to other Genesis vehicles. The shield-shaped grille has been redesigned and now points to the bottom. The vents between the front wheels have been reduced in size. Redesigned taillights at the back feature split lamps and mirror the front. The Sport model features a large, oval-shaped exhaust outlet that runs from each corner. A diffuser runs between the pipes.
The G70 will come in several new colors, at least for the South Korean market. Metallic finishes are available for Sedona Brown, Tasman Blue and Tasman Blue. Verbier White, Melbourne Grey and the G70-exclusive Bond Silver all have a matte appearance.
The current 8.0-inch screen has been replaced by a 10.25-inch information display. It supports updates to over-the-air navigation. For better reading, the instrument cluster displays are larger. Wireless smartphone chargers can charge a device faster. To make the cabin more quiet, the company installs acoustic windows in the windshield and front doors.
