In four seconds, it can reach 62 mph (100 km/h).
Genesis has shown the GV60’s design multiple times and is now ready to discuss the technical specifications for its first dedicated electric vehicle. Let’s just say that the Hyundai Ioniq 5 sister model and Hyundai EV6 are available in single- or dual-motor versions, with rear- or all-wheel drive.
The South Korean market has a Standard Model that is rated at 225 horsepower (168kilowatts) with 350 Newton-meters (475-pound-feet of torque) while the AWD model gets 314 HP (234 kW), and 605 Nm (446-lb-ft). The AWD-only Performance Model increases output to 429 hp (312 kW) or 605 Nm (446 lbft) in Sports Mode. However, there is also a Boost Mode which boosts power to 483 hp (356 kW) or 700 Nm (516 lbft).
The Boost Mode lasts only 10 seconds when the dedicated button is pressed on the steering wheel. The flagship GV60 can reach 62 mph (100 km/h), in just four seconds. This is impressive, but not as fast as the Kia EV6GT, which has a 577-horsepower engine.
The company does not go into detail about the electric SUV’s Drift Mode. It only states that it “provides athletic driving through optimizing the distribution power of the driving system.”
The zero-emissions Genesis will only be available in the domestic market with a 77.4-kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This supports fast-charging at 350 kW. It takes just 18 minutes to go up from 10 to 80 percent. The GV60, like its mechanically related siblings supports bidirectional charging up to 3.6 kW.
Let’s talk about range. But before we get started, let us remind you that all of the following numbers are estimates made by Genesis using the Korean EV certification system. Base RWD versions are capable of covering 451 km (280 miles) without charging, while AWD counterparts can cover 400 km (249 mi). The range will be reduced to 368 km (229 mi) if you upgrade to the Performance Model.
The GV60, which rides on the E-GMP platform is the first Genesis vehicle to emit fake “engine” sounds through its speakers. This “feature” is called electricActive Sound Design (eASD). It generates virtual driving sounds based on vehicle speed, driving mode and pressure applied to accelerator pedal.
The Genesis GV60 measures 4515 millimeters (177.7 in) long and the wheelbase is 2900 mm (114.1 in) shorter than that of the EV6. It is just as wide and tall as the Hyundai at 1890 mm (+10 mm) and 1,580 mm (62.2 inches) high, which puts it between the Ioniq5.
The Genesis GV60 is available with either 19- or 21-inch KDM flavor wheels. It also comes with a choice 11 exterior colors including Sao Paulo Lime and Hanauma Mint. You can choose from five interior finishes: Obsidian Black/Torrent Navy, Ash Gray/Glacier White and Monstera Green/Camel Beige.
