You can watch the livestream here at 8PM EST. Also, come early to a pre-show starting at 7:30 PM EST. Motor1.com editors and InsideEVs editors will talk about the Hummer EV’s arrival as we wait for the GMC livestream to start.

The all-new Hummer EV will abandon its gas-guzzling past and ride the truck wave. It also aims to capitalize on the increasing demand for EVs. GMC has revealed some exciting numbers to help ease the wait. The new Hummer EV will have a maximum horsepower of 1,000 and a staggering 11,500 pound-feet (1,592 Newton-meters). GMC has revealed some juicy numbers to ease the wait. It promises up to 1,000 horsepower and an incredible 11,500 pound-feet (15,592 Newton-meters) of torque.

The Hummer’s revival will boast a lot of pulling power thanks to up to three motors that can go from 0-60 mph (96 km/h), in just three seconds. This is supercar-like acceleration, but the vehicle won’t be as light or as high-end machines from Britain and Italy.

GMC has some clever tricks up its sleeves, including the Crab Mode which will make all four wheels go in the same direction. The four-wheel steering system is available as an optional option. It should make parking tight spots easier for larger vehicles. Tonight’s unveiling will reveal more details about this feature.

Although the company has not revealed the range of the zero-emissions Hummer’s electric vehicle, we know that it will be able to take advantage of GM’s new Ultium battery. These battery packs, which were co-developed with LG Chem will provide enough juice to last for 400 miles (644 km) and can be fast charged at 350 kW.

Teasers from the past have shown an open-air roof design for the electric truck, which is made possible by removable panels. This video also showed a brief glimpse at the digital instrument cluster (12 inches) and infotainment system (15 inches).

GMC delayed the Hummer EV’s world premiere to May 20, but originally it was scheduled for May 20. The company will begin taking reservations immediately for $100 per person and allow early adopters the option to choose the trim level they desire.

Production will begin next fall at GM’s Detroit-Hamtramck assembly facility that was previously renamed Factory Zero in order to signify its EV-exclusive future. A version for SUVs will follow.
