According to GM Authority, the 2022 Chevrolet Equinox as well as the GMC Terrain will be offered with a 2.0-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. These crossovers were not available with the 1.5-liter turbocharged four cylinder for the model year 2021.

When The Equinox was redesigned Chevy originally stated that it would come with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four cylinder and a 2.0-liter turbocharged four cylinder. Later, Chevy reversed its position and decided to make the vehicle available with a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder.Only to offer the smaller engine in the model year 2021 .

According to GM Authority the Equinox and Terrain will be powered by GM’s turbocharged four-cylinder engine with internal designation LSY. The engine is already in the Cadillac XT4, and Chevrolet Blazer. This application will give the engine 237 horsepower (177 Kilowatts) as well as 258 pound-feet (353 Newton-meters) of torque.

These models had a 2.0-liter turbo that was slightly more powerful, producing 252 horsepower (188 kW) as well as 260 lbft (353Nm) Despite having less power, the LSY engine is said to have lower emissions and better refinement.
