The design of the Grand Cherokee has been revealed through spy photos of the prototype in camo. However, some questions remain about the regular Grand Cherokee. The 4xe model will be the SUV’s debut. This suffix is used by Jeep for plug-in hybrid vehicles. The Wrangler 4xe, which has a Gladiator 4xe soon, as well as the Compass 4xe (and Renegade 4xe) sold outside the US are just a few examples.
We know that the Grand Cherokee will be available in 2022, so it is likely that it will go on sale in the next months at a lower starting price than the three-row model. The Grand Cherokee L starts at $38,635 in the base Laredo trim, with 4×2, and then goes up to $63,635 in the Summit Reserve model that is available only with a 4×4 setup.
We don’t expect any major changes to the L model’s hood, and the engine lineup may not contain the Trackhawk’s supercharged V8. Stellantis, the parent company, is slowly moving away from large displacement engines in preparation for the electric age. The long-rumored inline six turbo engine will still be available as a high-performance option. It would produce 525 horsepower and 182 hp more than the 707-hp Trackhawk.
The standard 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee will be available for purchase at 9 AM Eastern/ 1 PM GMT.
