The price is also a little higher.
Leaked images from June 14 showed the 2022 Kia Telluride sporting a new grille. Insider information was also included in the photos, which indicated that there would be more standard equipment on the SUV. Kia could not confirm this information, but it could have been the catalyst for the unexpected 2022 Telluride debut.
This is not a facelift. The Telluride is unique for the 2022 model-year, but the leaked information indicates that visual changes are limited to grille. The Kia logo is what makes it distinctive. It swaps the older style for a more modern script, but the grille has also been slightly redesigned. We don’t know how it is done, but Kia does say that it uses a more mesh design. The full line will also come in black, although Kia doesn’t specify how. However, we know it uses a mesh design.
Inside, the bigger news is good news. However, it’s still very small potatoes. While the greenhouse remains unchanged, lower trim levels will have more standard equipment. Telluride LX, S and S models get a larger 10.25-inch screen as well as automatic climate control and highway driver assist. All trims get Kia’s navigation-based smartcruising.
This is consistent with previously leaked information. However, we now have pricing information. You would expect that more standard equipment will result in a higher sticker price, but it is not a huge increase. Telluride LX, the entry-level Telluride LX, starts at $32,790. This is an increase of $600 since 2021. The Telluride S sees an identical $600 increase starting at $35,290. Only the EX and SX see $200 increases to $37,790, and $42,690 respectively. Prices are for front-wheel drive models only and do not include $1,225 destination fee. This charge is unchanged for the new model years.
The 2022 Telluride will be available in dealerships by the end of this year.
