This time, it’s being tested around the Nurburgring.
After a series high-speed testing at the Nurburgring the next generation Land Rover Range Rover was spotted cruising along the roads around the famous track at lower speeds. This spy video allows us to see some details of the prototype, even though it is still camouflaged.
The rear suspension is shown in the footage at the 2:45 minute mark. Although there’s nothing new, the quad exhaust arrangement that you see above caught our eye. It suggests that the car could have a V8 engine under the hood.
According to the latest gossip, the new Range Rover will switch from the JLR-sourced 5.0 liter supercharged V8 and go to the BMW’s 4.4 liter twin-turbo version. Although we don’t have all the details, we believe the output will be close to 500 horsepower.
The all-new, aluminum rich platform will complement the new BMW motor and will be used by both Range Rover Sport and Range Rover Sport. The new underpinnings will allow for fully-electric and electrified powertrains to be made available. There will also be many tech upgrades in the autonomous section.
The new RR will not be any larger in terms of dimensions. The disguised test car suggests an evolution in exterior design and shape. Interior design could be a departure from current design, with more technology features and many autonomous systems.
The official debut of the Range Rover is still 12 months away. The new Range Rover should be available for purchase in 2022, but it is unknown when exactly.
