This luxury midsize sedan is looking for a quick fix.
Three years ago, Lexus introduced the seventh-generation ES. Now Toyota’s luxury division has begun to unveil the mid-cycle facelift. The updated midsize sedan will be featured alongside the bold LF-Z Electrified concept at Auto Shanghai. To ease your wait, we have released a teaser photo+video combination.
According to what we are able to see, the ES facelift will have mildly redesigned headlights that feature a new light pattern and a slightly different design for sharper daytime running lamps. A modified layout of the main headlight cluster appears to include three square modules in place of the trapezoidal projectors on the current car.
The teaser video was captured right as the rear end of the car appears. The trunk lid spoiler suggests that it is a sportier trim. However, the F Sport badge is missing. The trunk lid’s bottom-right corner has the AWD logo and the model designation. The current ES’s taillights look almost identical to the current ES’s. We can also say the same about the F Sport rear bumper.
The teaser Lexus published is not only for the Chinese model, although it will be shown in the People’s Republic. The rear license plate shows that the US-spec model is actually the vehicle featured in the video. The exterior changes will be minimal, so we expect a mild facelift.
Lexus may make some changes inside and outside the car. We’ll have to wait to see what the facelift will do to an automobile that feels fresh. Toyota will also be attending Auto Shanghai from April 19 to bring an concept for its electric SUV.
