Visual changes are small but there is more going on beneath the skin.
If you mistakenly thought the 2022 Lexus EXsedan model was last year’s, we wouldn’t blame. You’ll have to look very closely to see the differences between the inside and outside. However, there are some improvements. The big news for 2022 is the wires and computer codes beneath it all. There are various tech enhancements that offer more convenience, safety and, in some cases, sportier movements.
The journey starts at the front, where you will find a new mesh grille with L-shaped features. Except for F Sport models, the new grille will be found everywhere. F Sport models still receive their own treatment. The updated bi-LED headlamps, which we first saw in the teaser video from April 12 , are positioned next to the grille. The standard models will get new 17-inch wheels and two new colors of silver or gray will join the exterior color palette. These new colors will replace three outgoing gray shades. The interior features include a larger brake pedal and a slightly more forward-facing multimedia screen. This is it. As far as facelifts go this one is very minimal.
The dynamic cruise control system allows you to automatically increase your speed to pass slower cars while cruising. It can also accelerate back to the original setting when you change lanes. The system can also reduce speed at certain corners. Lexus made improvements to its lane-departure software for better lane recognition.
These changes aren’t just for business. Lexus adds an F Sport option to its 300h hybrid for the first time. These updates are only the beginning. They include a sleek grille with dark surrounds and exclusive black 19-inch wheels. It also has F Sport badges to let people know that it is special.
You can find the new Dynamic Handling Package on the pure-combustion ES350 F Sport. It includes Sport + as well as Custom Drive modes. Lexus claims that the Adaptive Variable suspension underneath can adjust to 650 levels based on various parameters such as vehicle speed, steering angle and engine parameters. All 2022 ES models have new rear suspension bracing, regardless of trim. This improves rigidity, stability and comfort. All models feature optimized brake systems.
Lexus won’t talk about the price of the 2022 model, which has been tweaked. This will be closer to the sedan’s dealership debut, which is scheduled for the fall 2021.
