We approve of anything with mudflaps.
The Lexus LX is now more luxurious than ever, without sacrificing its all-terrain capability. The F Sport will be sold in the USA with a rear limited-slip diff, but Japan will get a Offroad trim that has three locking differentials. To further explore the fullsize SUV’s adventurous side, Toyota’s premium division has teamed up to the tuners at Jaos.
It bears the same “Offroad”, name as the production model’s trim in JDM flavor. The one-off build will be riding on Enkei titanium-gold 20-inch wheels with Toyo all-terrain tires. To make it easier to handle uneven roads, the nameplate production car has a smaller wheel size of only 18 inches.
The TAS-bound LX is equipped with mudflaps as any other off-road vehicle. However, it can be distinguished visually by its carbon fiber reinforced plastic rear and front skid protectors. The chunky overfenders are also made of CFRP. The door handle protectors, tail-cutter and door handle protectors complete the modifications that the Toyota Land Cruiser has undergone.
The Offroad is built on the LX 600 and features a twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 that produces 409 horsepower (315 Kilowatts) as well as 479 pound-feet (651 Newton-meters), of torque to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission. Lexus’ flagship SUV will be sold in certain markets with a twin-turbo, 3.3-liter V6 that produces 305 horsepower (227 kW), and 516 lbft (700 Nm), through the same gearbox.
The LX Offroad by Jaos is on display at TAS, January 14-16 at the Makuhari Messe convention centre.
