The LX 600 is on its way.
The new Land Cruiser was introduced by Toyota in June. Now Lexus is getting ready for the unveiling of its luxury counterpart. Thursday, October 14th at 1:30 AM JST will mark the world premiere of the next-generation LX. This works out to Wednesday October 13th at 12:30 PM Eastern/ 4:30 PM GMT. A livestream will be available on YouTube. We will also have it up on motor1.com a few hours before the official debut.
Lexus has not provided any information about the luxobarge. However, the teaser photo shows a wide LED lightbar and the LX 600 badge to indicate what we believe will be the new range-topping model. This is not surprising considering that the Japanese premium brand, Lexus, took legal steps to register its nameplate with the United States Patent and Trademark Office in 2019, as well as other countries.
The absence of the letter “h”, at the end, indicates that the powertrain won’t be a hybrid. And assuming Lexus, unlike many other brands, still cares about the meaning of a badge, the LX 600 should feature a 6.0-liter motor. In today’s downsizing world, this seems excessive, especially considering the Land Cruiser’s loss of both the V8 gasoline and diesel engines.
Side note: This Lexus 600h wouldn’t be the first LS600h, as the previous-gen LS had an LS600h version. For Prince Albert II’s royal wedding, there was an open-top Landaulet made by Carat Duchatelet, a Belgian coachbuilder. We wouldn’t expect the LX 600 to have a 6.0-liter engine in the LS600h.
The Land Cruiser’s twin-turbo, 3.5-liter V6 replaces the old naturally aspirated V8. It produces 409 horsepower (305kilowatts) as well as 479 pound-feet (409 Newton-meters of torque), making it nearly 30 hp more powerful and 80 lb-ft better. This engine also provides significantly higher fuel efficiency and lower-end punch. It will only be time to see if it is as reliable.
A twin-turbodiesel, 3.3-liter 3.3-liter Toyota SUV is the largest (except for the rare mega cruiser). It also has 305 horsepower (227 kW) as well as 516 lbft (700 Nm). The LC300 can also be offered with a naturally aspirated V6 base engine in some markets. The Land Cruiser can be equipped with either a six-speed or ten speed automatic transmission depending on its engine.
Toyota has discontinued its flagship SUV in North America. However, the LX will still be available. As a result, there will be major changes. The Land Cruiser has lost 441 pounds (200 kg) since it switched to the TNGAF-F platform. This well-known off-roader is packed with tech. It features everything from a 360-degree camera and a fingerprint authentication system. The LX is sure to be as advanced as its mainstream counterpart.
The new Lexus LX will be available in North America in the first half 2022, following its unveiling next week.
